Paradise Supermart allowed to reopen | News, Sports, Jobs

The state Department of Health Maui Food Safety Branch issued a yellow “conditional pass” placard to Paradise Supermart and allowed the Kahului business to reopen after it was cited for critical violations earlier in the week.
The food establishment at 207 E. Wakea Ave., operated by Paradise Asian Foods Inc., had received a red placard on Tuesday for violations over cold storage, broken handwash sinks, moldy food and other issues. A follow-up inspection on Wednesday found that the most significant violations had been resolved but some food safety issues still remained, including:
• Refrigeration which wasn’t holding safe temperatures needed to be emptied of foods.
• Entry points for pests needed to be repaired.
• Additional cleanup of grease and debris needed to be completed.
A second follow-up inspection will be conducted this coming Tuesday to assess the progress.
